Integrating the Experience

Integration is the most important step

It has been said that a ceremony can be equivalent to 10+ years of psychotherapy. This inevitably changes your perspective on life, self, identity, and purpose. However, this rapid and profound shedding can leave us sensitive and vulnerable, as it can be a lot to process all at once. With guidance, these lessons can be applied to our daily lives in a powerful way.

Integration, the work that comes after the ceremony, is more important than any peak experience. This is where the true change comes to fruition. We cannot take shortcuts here, and there is no easy way out. You can’t hide from the work because the work is where we gain the wisdom.

Integration, in large part, is the process of absorbing and digesting this raw material and incorporating it into your new heightened level of consciousness. This shift inevitably changes your perspective on life, self, identity, and purpose. We begin to cultivate a new way of being that is in touch with what really matters.

For those looking for an easy path towards change, look in another direction. True change comes in our daily habits and discipline in our daily choices. Choosing yourself first every day is where true change can come from. This can look like self-care, self-soothing, and self-regulation. Learning to regulate our nervous system is how we take back control of our lives. This does not mean ignoring feelings or disregarding emotions, but rather not allowing them to derail your entire being.

When we stop identifying ourselves with these thoughts and emotions, that is when true change can occur. Thoughts and emotions are not meant to be rationalized or even understood. This is where many people get lost. When we try to rationalize these things, we often get trapped in thought loops that seem never-ending. Thoughts and emotions are only meant to be felt fully and then released.

Many times, our physical ailments are tied to an emotional or spiritual root. Once we allow ourselves to fully feel these suppressed emotions and let our bodies process them, it can lead to physical healing.  When we do not allow ourselves to fully feel emotions, they can get locked in the body and surface as physical ailments and pain.

Once we allow ourselves to fully feel what we’ve had locked away, our hearts and minds can be free.

This process may very well be the hardest thing you’ve ever done in your life. But I promise you, you are worth it.

So feel it with your entire being, take a deep breath, and let it go!

Remember: The goal isn't to chase the peak experience, but to embody the wisdom gained and let it naturally transform how you live.
